Florida State is trying to upgrade its football non-conference schedule, and it may be close to taking a big step toward that goal.
The Seminoles are in negotiations with Oklahoma State to play at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, early in the 2014 season, CBSSports.com reported Sunday.
On his radio show Wednesday, FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said the program was looking to add a premier opponent in the near future.
"We're trying to talk to some folks about some big games and possibly maybe being in one of those kickoff games and possibly doing something against a significant opponent starting off (the season)," Fisher said, according to the Orlando Sentinel. "We can start off with one and then have the one against Florida (in November) and our conference games, so that will give us another big-time oponent."
The Seminoles? non-Florida, non-conference slate this year includes Division I-AA teams Murray State and Savannah State, and South Florida of the Big East. They completed a home-and-home series with Oklahoma last season in Tallahassee. They?ve also played BYU and Colorado in recent years.
